ICUGEL 150 - IQB®.
t is a hydrosoluble and hydrophilic gel, based on carbomer, with neutral pH and with no medical active principles, which is suitable to facilitate the continuity of the transmission of electric pulses or ultrasound signals between the transducer electrode and the patient's skin. Easy to apply and remove, does not cause pain or irritation on the skin, nor harm to the electrode. Given that it is composed by more of 99 % of water, it can be easily removed from the place of application, and/or from the electrode with an absorbent tissue or with a wet cloth with no residue. Since the endings of 2008, this product has the authorization issued by the ANMAT Medical Technology Department, in accordance to the latest resolution on registration of medical devices in MERCOSUR (Resolution No. 2318/2002; see at the bottom).
Formula:
Carbomer is a polymer of high molecular weight of acrylic acid mixed with pentaeritritol allyl ethers. It has around 50 % of carboxyl acid groups (–COOH) and the viscosity of a neutralized 0.5% water dispersion is of around 50,000 centipoises.
